My work is the union of my imagination and reality. It all starts in nature…a walk in a field, a hike up a mountain, an afternoon on the lake, this is where my inspiration is born.

I go back to my studio with an idea that won’t let me do anything else until it’s out on paper at least, (more often a completed project).

 

The getting the idea out on paper is the reality exhausting part, often I imagine something way too complicated for my ability....

 

 I hand draw a pattern, mix my silk dye colors and off we go, imagination and I.  Inevitably a third element joins the process, the emerging design. It has its own idea of what it wants to be. This is the magic, letting the design be what it wants to be and my stepping back letting my grip on the project go...just a bit. 

 

 The result is something one of a kind that I would never have come up with if I did not trust imagination and the design working together. The result is something one of a kind and beautiful.
